In an adult eye, the cornea and lens protect the retina from UVC (skin cancers), UVB (sunburn, blisters, skin cancers) and the UVA (skin aging). UVB and UVC are serious agents of skin tissue changes because the DNA directly absorbs them. The cornea and lens protect the retina by absorbing the greatest majority of radiation.
